Zach Davis Wins Stock Contest!!
Zach (I can pick'em) Davis won the 2007 Economics Stock Contest by earning over $13,000 in just an 8 week period. Congratulations Zach!! Other top performers were 2nd Emily Kellogg, 3rd Logan Farrington, 4th Joe Nehring and 5th Thom Olson. Last Place cellar dweller was Lucas (what day is it?) Moser, who almost went wire to wire in last place. This was a great bunch of competitors and we all had a lot of fun competing. The entire official standings are below.
Another Really Bad Song
Yes, another really bad song has been discovered and it has made it's way to the Tryon University Music Department's list of forgettable songs. The new one MADE the TOP Forty in the 1950s. Go to the Music Department and enjoy........

Tryon University Sponsors Trivia Team!
For the last year, Tryon University has sponsored a top notch Trivia Team of 8 members. We compete in the Nevada City Trivia Contest and have done quite well. We have had numerous team members, mostly this year's seniors. Members include: Kurtenbach, Handsaker, C.Smith, M.Smith, Brausche, Guthrie, Leeper, E.Wilson, Lloyd (Captain) and I am probably leaving someone out. This year (2006-7) there are 4 contests. Twice we have finished in 5th, just a question or two out of the money. This is against over 30 of the best teams in Central Iowa. Go Cockers!! (It is fun to whip the other teacher teams. (Like Thompsons, Freys, Lloyds, Uhlenhopps, Niblocks and that dark haired TAG lady with the funny last name....)

I have a nephew that has just enlisted and another has just returned for his 3rd duty in either Iraq or Afghanistan. Many former students of TU are now serving.....Bless Them and be Proud Of Them......They are liberators........

The faculty of Tryon University is honored and humbled to have been nominated and chosen as the recipient of Allied Insurance and WHO TV's Golden Apple Award. Even though the TV story only appeared for a couple of minutes, early in the morning, many old friends and colleagues have been contacting me in disbelief. I would like to thank all of those who cheered, clapped and shook my hand that day, it was a memory I will cherish forever. Words could never express my gratitude. No, I have not sold it yet on eBay. Yes, it was such a shock, I was speechless, which as you know is very rare. Thanks again for all of the nice things said by the wonderful students of NHS.
